House of Blues Triple Play
The Sippy Cups played three awesome shows this past weekend at the House of Blues in Anaheim, San Diego and Los Angeles.

DadCentric says “The band tore through much of Electric Storyland – my personal favorite was “I Am A Robot”, which brought me back to the days of hotboxing in the Balboa Park Planetarium parking lot, there to see the Pink Floyd laser show (seems like only yesterday – my, how quickly those three months have gone by). The kids were issued plastic tambourines and maracas, and balloon artists were on hand to pass out balloon hats and animals. Between songs, band member Sippy Doug assumed the role of various characters (Major Minor, Hair Professor); the show was fast-paced, fun, and kept the kids enthralled… The band also exuberantly covered the Velvet Underground’s “Rock and Roll”, the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” (sanitized a bit; the Sippys wanna be “elated”) and for the encore, the Stones’ “She’s A Rainbow.”

They made quite an impression down south, I gather! As found on Zooglobble, a parent says “Ok so I take my kids down to the free concert on the river during SXSW here in Austin. One of the bands is named “The Sippy Cups” out of San Francisco so I’m thinking; “They’ll like this but let’s not get too close”. Imagine my surprise to suddenly hear early Pink Floyd coming from a “kids” band. I was so caught off guard I damn near stepped on all the little ones trying to glide my way to the front for good footage. These folks are GREAT!!!!

One of the things that our kids can’t stop talking about in the Sippy Cups show was the great ribbon acrobatics and gymnastics of thirteen year-old Anna Robertson. She’s new to the Sippy Cups lineup. She trains and performs with the world-famous San Francisco Circus Center and will appear with the Sippy Cups at their upcoming San Francisco and Northwest shows.
We’re seen Aerial Silks (Circus Tissu) before. It’s remarkably graceful, beautiful and entertaining to watch. Our kids were mesmerized by it!
